Drupal 6 Evolution Administration Theme

The Evolution Drupal theme is nearing completion and is primarily focused as an administration theme, easing your brain from Garland-land pushing a fresh new look for managing and developing Drupal websites. Evolution is optimized for the Safari web browser (CSS transitions, text-shadow, etc), however it is currently being tested within Firefox 2 as well. Click the image below to view a larger screenshot of the administration theme.

Theme Features

  • Quick administration panel
  • Sexy Safari effects
  • Improved readability (permissions page etc)
  • Tabbed content (top-level fieldsets become tabs)

...I'm currently using RootCandy, but by the looks of this, I'd really like to see it finished. If you need help, let me know.

Any news on this?

but where to find this plugin ?
looks gorgeous !

I tried contacting the guy who has taken over the project on drupal.org without much success. I am more than willing to do this, can I help out ?

As mentioned below we no longer develop Drupal sites, however someone has taken over the development of the them on Drupal.org. That was quite recent so it may still be a while

Hi Can you tell me when this administration theme will be released. Looking forward to it.

It is not finished, so no it does not work in ANY browser. It uses specific features to make it better in Safari, that does not mean it would not work in crappy IE

Doesn't work in IE? Pass. Should work in all major browsers.

You do realize this site is several years old ...

orly?

@MacRebel We no longer work with Drupal, so stop your complaining.

How can anyone trust the abilities of a Drupal developer who takes 4-5 months to release a theme that they have posted about. Either they were lying or they are irresponsible. Which is it Vision Media?

If you are going to do something - do it. Don't talk about it and not follow through.

Ohhh, I'm so glad to see this nice design, but when this theme will be launched?

Anxious to try out this theme

Can't wait it to test on the private company website. Is there any chance seeing the release this month?

Almost here, but when ?

I'm sad to hear that you're not working in Drupal these days. The community really, most seriously needs someone like you and the others you work with to enhance and refine its aesthetic base. Most themes, to my eyes, are unabashedly horrid. This leaves anyone with taste obliged to learn the code as well as the experts -- at least theming. It rather defeats the point of CMS systems and the like, which are designed to give vast functionality without necessitating individuals, whose aims in the life are not learning code but starting an NGO, running a media production company, founding and expanding their business, or anything else that is the core of their drive and purpose.

So I really hope you reconsider and bring your refined design sensitivity to Drupal. As a base, I think Drupal is remarkable, or so I read. Aesthetically, it's awful.

On your exquisite Evolution Admin Theme, is there something I should do to make the Github source work? I found it and downloaded and tried to load as my admin default, but things are far out of place, which is a shame because the mockup looks quite beautiful and is exactly what I need.

Please advise. And thank you.

I love Drupal, but compared to other content management systems, it's starting to show its age in the design department.

I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to the release of this!

I believe the source is on Github right now ( I cannot remember if I committed anything to Drupal.org ), and I do not really work with Drupal any more so unfortunately it may stay where it is.

is it possible to get a pre-release (dev) on drupal.org as is? We could all contribute towards a 1.0 release then...

Ohh.. so lovely.

I have to join the "yea D5 it!" crew...

Has it been released?

really cool design! looking forward to the first release!

I can't wait! Keep up the good work!

Seems to be great, do you have a download link ?

The theme looks amazing—how can I download it? Is it available yet?

Thanks! Wait until you see it in use (screencast once its closer to being finished). Hopefully late next week if we have time to finish things up.

It looks absolutely fantastic. I would love to add this one to a project I'm working on. This is something Drupal really could use. When do you plan to release it?

Thanks,

Currently it does not however the plans are:

1. scaling height via:
a. sliding down the remaining links
b. slide the entire panel down to fit these links
c. or simply scroll the links up or down based on cursor position

2. when many admin-panel blocks are within a site and when it is full to the point displayed in the screenshot there will be both left/right arrows for navigating the remaining panels (the entire panel can be hidden)

How does the header on this theme scale to a site with a lot of modules enabled, and lots of submenus under 'Site Configuration'?
